How to get to Võru?

If you live close enough or feel like it’s time for a road trip, driving is a great option to reach Võru. There is always enough free public parking in town. Google Maps and other map apps are your best friends in getting route options.

Approaching from north (from Tallinn or Tartu), just follow highway 2/E263.

Approaching from south, it is recommended to take highway E77 in Latvia and turn off either through Ape (shortest route), Haanja (most scenic route) or highway 2/E263 (the biggest highway). If coming from further than Lithuania, driving through Kaunas and Riga will be the most convenient route to reach Võru.

Bus is the most convenient public transportation option to reach Võru. There are direct routes from major Estonian cities, e.g. Tallinn and Tartu. Tickets can be found here.

There are also international bus routes to Estonia, but to reach Võru, it is necessary to connect in either Tallinn or Tartu.

Transfer from/to nearby major bus stations and airports is included in the Bass Oasis ticket. Prior booking required at info@bassoasis.com.

The airport of choice for most is Tallinn (TLL), located in the capital of Estonia. From Tallinn airport it is easy to take a comfortable coach bus straight to Võru or connect in Tartu. Renting a car is of course also and option.

Using Riga airport (RIX) is also possible. The distance from Võru to Riga airport is actually less than Tallinn, but there is no direct public transportation to Võru. It is possible to connect through Tartu with a bus, but it is definitely more hassle. Taking a rental car from Riga on the other hand is a good option.
