Travel to beautiful Võru, Estonia for the 2nd Estonian Bass Oasis, with Musical Director Stu Hamm, from August 27 to 31, 2024.
Relax and explore some of the many different approaches to the bass while getting hands-on experience of playing with top musicians in their field, all the while enjoying the beautiful nature and surroundings of Southern Estonia. We’ll also explore the physical aspects of being a bass player with meditation and stretching to help you develop the habits that you need for a long, pain-free musical life! After the morning mindfulness, all attendees will go through a technique and musicality lesson, before the attendees break up into smaller groups to…PLAY MUSIC with the Pros!
Daily clinics and Q&A sessions with visiting artists will awe and inspire, and you can jam the night away and talk all things bass with fellow attendees and faculty after the night’s organized festivities have ended.
For the Final Concert on Saturday night, all attendees and faculty will perform in groups large and small for the festival audience: locals and friends and loved ones.
Price includes all meals and accommodations …just bring your bass and an open mind and heart.

Learn new techniques from our stellar faculty. In the Bass Oasis you get the chance to play together with world-class musicians. Daily relaxing exercises help you free your body and mind from tension related to bass playing.
Concerts and social events
The fun does not stop with the bass lessons. Enjoy the beautiful Southern Estonian nature and jam with fellow attendees and faculty. We have a big final concert too!

Stuart Hamm is perhaps best known for his recording and touring roles with guitar legends such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. However, for serious students of the electric bass, Hamm’s influence and impact on the instrument are far more extensive. Regarded as one of the most technically gifted bassists to have emerged out of the jazz/rock genre in the last thirty years, Hamm has released a string of impressive solo albums, along the way becoming an ambassador for virtuoso bass playing through his mastery of slap and pop techniques and his pioneering work with two handed tapping and solo bass playing. He has also released several successful tuition videos, beginning with Slap, Pop and Tap for the Bass in 1988 and his more recent series of videos for his Truefire ‘Stu U’ course. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Hamm has been awarded the schools ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’.

Bassist Peedu Kass moves and grooves with the top names on the Estonian jazz scene and beyond. After garnering the prestigious Young Talent prize (2010) at Estonia’s annual Jazzkaar festival, Kass quickly established a reputation as Tallinn's first-call bassist, and his entrée onto the wider European scene was anticipated by his win, at age twenty, of the Sony Jazz Stage award in Riga, Latvia, in a year (2006) in which the competition was focused on his instrument. He has since shared the bandstand with the likes of Django Bates, Marilyn Mazur, Seamus Blake, Tony Allen, Lonnie Liston Smith, Antonio Hart, and the European Jazz Orchestra. His tours have taken him all over Europe and to the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia, and he has thrilled to the view from the stage of storied jazz festivals (London, Kongsberg, Pori) and clubs (Smalls, New York City; Pit Inn, Tokyo; Vortex, London).
Renowned for his electric-, acoustic- and synth-bass skills—in performance and in the studio and with ensembles ranging from small groups to full orchestras—Kass has also been expanding into arrangement and composition. Kass leads several bands, including the piano trio “Peedu Kass Momentum”.

Vivify Music Recording Artist and Benedetto Guitar Artist, Brian Nova, is considered one of the top Jazz Guitarists/Vocalists in the nation, according to Jazz Improv Magazine. Joe Pass said of Nova: ‘I feel Brian is one of the finest Jazz Guitarists on the scene!’ He has the distinction of being the only guitarist who was mentored by, and toured with the two titans of Jazz guitar: Herb Ellis and Joe Pass. Rock Icon, Steve Miller, says: ‘I’ve met and known a lot of guitarists in my career, and ‘B’ is the best guitarist I’ve ever met.’ Nova performs, and records, as a solo artist with his Trio, Quartet, and his 18-piece Big Band. Brian is on Arturo Sandoval’s Grammy Award Winning CD, ‘Dear Diz’, which garnered a Grammy and 3 Latin Grammys in 2013 on Concord Records. Brian was also featured at the Iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem for Ella Fitzgerald’s 100th Birthday Celebration along with Liz Wright, Monica Mancini, Patti Austin, Andra Day, Cassandra Wilson, Ledisi and many others.
In addition to performing, Nova also encourages young Jazz musicians to further their own musical education and stage presence. From 1990 to 1996, he was the Director of Jazz and Guitar Studies for the Music Program at Seattle University. He continues to mentor the next generation of professional musicians through his master classes and clinics he conducts around the world.

Dennis Chambers is an American drummer who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke,Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, CAB, Greg Howe, and many others. Despite a lack of formal training, Chambers has become well known among drummers for his technique and speed. Chambers is particularly regarded for his ability to play "in the pocket" but can also stretch very far out of the pocket which is also a hallmark of his technique. Chambers exhibits a powerful style that is technically proficient, yet highly musical and groove-oriented. He can play in a wide variety of musical genres, but is perhaps most notable for his jazz-fusion, funk, and Latin music playing. He is mostly known for his fast hands and triplets on the bass drum. He has helped many young drummers, the most prominent being Tony Royster, Jr.

Borka, born in Tallinn, Estonia, through the years has established himself as one of the “first-call” drummers in the Estonian professional music scene. Doing studio sessions, recording TV shows, performing with artist ranging from jazz to rock and teaching privately, his professional attitude and consistency earned him the recognition from the companies that he now proudly endorses: Yamaha Drums, Sabian cymbals and Vic-Firth sticks.

Accommodation and meals from 27th August to 1st September 2024 are a included with the Bass Oasis attendee and guest tickets.
Bass Oasis accommodation is located within a few minutes walk from our main venue in the heart of Võru. Comfortable private rooms provided in Georgi Hotel or nearby Ränduri guesthouse. Come alone or bring a guest with you to enjoy the greenery and fresh air.
Check-in is at 3PM on 27th August 2024 and check-out noon 1st September 2023.
All meals and coffee breaks from check-in to check-out are included in the Bass Oasis ticket. Guest ticket holders share room with the main ticket purchaser and enjoy the same meal benefits.
