Stuart Hamm is perhaps best known for his recording and touring roles with guitar legends such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. However, for serious students of the electric bass, Hamm’s influence and impact on the instrument are far more extensive. Regarded as one of the most technically gifted bassists to have emerged out of the jazz/rock genre in the last thirty years, Hamm has released a string of impressive solo albums, along the way becoming an ambassador for virtuoso bass playing through his mastery of slap and pop techniques and his pioneering work with two handed tapping and solo bass playing. He has also released several successful tuition videos, beginning with Slap, Pop and Tap for the Bass in 1988 and his more recent series of videos for his Truefire ‘Stu U’ course. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Hamm has been awarded the schools ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’.
Prodigy bassist Mohini Dey has been described as one of the most extraordinary, creative, finest and versatile bass player of India. She started learning bass guitar at the age of 3 and started doing concerts and recordings at the age of 10.
She is an in-demand session player to do numerous live and studio work for many artists throughout the world and has a successful solo career. Mohini Dey has worked with artists like AR Rahman, Jordan Rudess, Simon Phillips, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Mike Stern, Dave weckl, Zakir Hussain, and many more international artists.
Estonian bass icon and legend. Raul is a renown rock and fusion bass player and educator.
Alex Skolnick is both an original member of Bay Area thrashers Testament (which he joined at age sixteen) and a respected New York improviser of multiple styles.
Emerging as one of the original melodic thrash guitarists (alongside Marty Friedman), Alex later moved to New York and earned a BfA in Jazz from The New School, studying with such prestigious artists as George Garzone, Cecil McBee and Reggie Workman.
Now a longtime resident of Brooklyn New York, he has gone on to release several critically acclaimed albums with the Alex Skolnick Trio. He is also a first call player for jazz/rock projects including the Stu Hamm/Alex Skolnick/Chad Wackerman power trio.
In 2016, Joe Satriani chose Alex (his former pupil), to be a primary guest instructor at his annual G4 Experience, alongside Eric Johnson, Mike Keneally and Steve Vai, followed by by a stint as the sole guitarist on faculty at Warwick Bass Camp.
As an an educator and speaker, Alex has been invited to give keynote addresses at academic events such as Dayton University’s Metal and Cultural Impact conference as well as joining various PhDs at the International Society for Metal Studies in Helsinki.
